First off, the casting in Freelance seems all wrong. This lifeless, generic, confusing, unfunny mess is so glaringly out of touch with reality that it makes your head hurt. Although the movie is set in a (fictitious) South American country, most of the main characters are White, and women have very little to do. Characters drink socially, and one character drinks alone in a scene. Strong language includes "f-k," "s-t," "a-hole," exclamatory use of "Jesus" and "God," and more. There's comical near-nudity as characters accidentally see one another naked after a shower (nothing explicit is shown), plus a scene of attempted seduction, as well as crude sex-related dialogue and innuendo. Violence includes guns and shootings (sometimes fatal), blood spurts, explosions, car crashes, fighting, punching, kicking, arm-breaking, head-bashing, and more. Parents need to know that Freelance is an action comedy about a former Army Special Ops operative ( John Cena) who's hired to protect a journalist ( Alison Brie) as she interviews an infamous dictator.
